Genuine Apple screens and batteries go through Apple configuration (pairing the part with the device). If a non-genuine part that did not pass configuration was previously installed on your phone, the new genuine part also will not be able to complete the configuration process.

What is the warranty on an iPhone battery replacement?

Genuine Apple (original) batteries: 6-month warranty. Premium replacement and JCID Enhanced batteries: 90 days (3 months). One exception: if the phone's back cover is cracked at the time of installation, the battery warranty does not apply — a shard of glass can fall inside and puncture the new battery. That is why we suggest replacing the cover during the same visit; the battery then keeps its full warranty. The exception applies to the battery only — all other installed parts keep their regular warranty periods.
