When the screen or battery on a Samsung phone breaks, one of the first questions that comes up is what kind of part to fit — original or replacement. Unlike the iPhone, where there are several categories of parts on the market, the situation with Samsung devices is specific and deserves a detailed explanation.
What original Service Pack parts are
Service Pack is the term Samsung uses for original spare parts intended for the service network. These parts are produced to identical specifications as the parts fitted into new phones on the factory line. They are sourced from authorized distributors and come in original Samsung packaging with the appropriate markings.
When a Service Pack screen is fitted into your Samsung phone, you get an identical display quality to that of a new device — the same colors, the same contrast, the same touch sensitivity and the same brightness. The AMOLED panels Samsung uses on its phones are among the best on the market — in fact, Samsung produces screens for many other manufacturers too, including Apple for iPhone models from the X series onward.
Service Pack parts for Samsung come in the form of a complete module that includes the screen, the touch sensor and the frame. This means that during the replacement the entire front of the phone is replaced, which ensures a perfect fit and the elimination of problems such as light leaking from the edges or an imprecise touch sensor.
Why Samsung does not have aftermarket screens like the iPhone
Here we come to the key difference. For the iPhone there is a developed aftermarket screen industry — InCell, OLED aftermarket, refurbished originals — offering different levels of quality at different prices. For Samsung, the situation is different for several technical reasons.
Samsung uses AMOLED technology, which is technically more complex to reproduce than LCD panels. Every Samsung AMOLED panel goes through a specific calibration process that ensures color accuracy, brightness uniformity and touch sensor precision. Aftermarket manufacturers do not have access to these calibration processes, which means that a lower-quality replacement screen would have visibly different colors, uneven brightness or problems with touch sensitivity.
Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy S series uses curved screens where the panel bends over the edges of the device. Producing such panels requires specialized equipment that aftermarket manufacturers mostly do not have. The result is that there are practically no quality aftermarket screens on the market for Samsung flagship models — and that is why serious shops use only original Service Pack parts.
This explains why a screen replacement on Samsung phones is generally more expensive than on the iPhone — there is no budget alternative that would be of acceptable quality. On the other hand, that means that when you fit a Service Pack screen into a Samsung, there is no dilemma about quality — you get an identical screen to the one on a new phone.

Samsung batteries — the same story
Similar to screens, for Samsung batteries too we recommend only original parts. The reason is that Samsung uses specific connectors and software communication between the battery and the motherboard that ensures correct capacity reading, charging optimization and safety protocols.
An aftermarket battery may physically fit into the phone, but it can cause problems — an inaccurate display of the charge percentage, slower charging, overheating or even a complete failure if the software detects an incompatible part. For a relatively small difference in price, the risk is simply not worth it.
The prices of original Samsung batteries are consistent across models and series. The margins are calibrated so that a battery replacement is an accessible option for most users — considerably more cost-effective than buying a new phone. You can see the complete prices on the Samsung phone repair page.
Glass repair — an alternative to a screen replacement
There is one situation in which you do not have to replace the complete screen, even on a Samsung. If the glass has cracked but the AMOLED panel beneath it works correctly — a clean image, with no blotches, lines or discoloration, touch responds normally — a glass repair is possible.
Glass repair is the procedure of replacing only the top protective glass with the help of professional OCA lamination machines. This is especially relevant for the Samsung Galaxy S series with curved screens, where replacing the complete Service Pack screen is extremely expensive. With a glass repair you can save up to 50 percent compared to replacing the complete screen.
The procedure is technically more demanding on curved screens than on flat ones — the glass must be precisely separated from the sensitive AMOLED panel without damage, and the new glass must perfectly follow the curve of the edges. That is why it is important that this procedure be done by an experienced shop with the appropriate equipment. You can read more about glass repair on Samsung models on the Samsung phone repair page.
Back glass and cover
For replacing the back glass (the cover) on Samsung phones we also use original Service Pack parts. The back glass comes in all the original colors for each model, which means that after the replacement the phone looks identical to a new one. The procedure takes from 30 minutes to an hour.
When replacing the cover we take special care of the functionality of wireless charging and NFC, because the antennas for these functions are located on the inner side of the back glass. An original Service Pack cover guarantees that these functions work correctly after the replacement.

How to recognize a shop that uses original parts
There are several indicators that can help you tell a shop that really uses original Samsung parts from one that merely claims to. First, the price. If the price of a screen replacement on a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is significantly below the market average, there is a high probability that it is not an original Service Pack part.
Second, the warranty and documentation. A shop that uses original parts usually gives a warranty of at least 90 days and issues a fiscal receipt. The fiscal receipt is not just a legal obligation — it is also your guarantee that you have legal grounds for a complaint in case of a problem.
Third, specialization. Shops that focus on a smaller number of brands usually have better access to original parts and greater expertise for those specific devices. Viper Mobile in New Belgrade, for example, services only iPhone and Samsung devices, which enables focused sourcing of original parts and specialized equipment.
Frequently asked questions
Can an aftermarket screen damage a Samsung phone?
It will not physically damage the phone, but it can cause problems with touchscreen sensitivity, display quality and compatibility with software functions. For flagship Samsung models, the original Service Pack is the only recommended option.
Why is a screen replacement on a Samsung more expensive than on the iPhone?
Because Samsung uses only AMOLED technology, which is more expensive to produce and for which there is no quality aftermarket alternative. The iPhone offers more part options in different price ranges.
Does the warranty cover a damaged screen?
The manufacturer's warranty does not cover mechanical damage caused by a fall or impact. However, the shop's 90-day warranty covers the installed part and the work — if the new screen stops working correctly within that period, the replacement is repeated for free.
